IRAN INTENDS TO BECOME A FULL MEMBER OF SCO

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO)
is considering Iran's bid to become a full member of the regional
security bloc, which brings together Russia, China, Kazakhstan,
Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.
During his official visit to Tajikistan, Iran's Foreign Minister
Manouchehr Mottaki said Tehran has already applied to join the
organization. Consideration of Tehran's bid is moving ahead in
accordance with the standard procedure. A decision on the issue
could be announced at a SCO summit in Yekaterinburg in June, RIA
Novosti reports.
Presently Iran, India, Mongolia and Pakistan have observer status in
the organization.
