    ARMENIA BETWEEN DAVOS AND STRASBURG

    Karabakh conflict

Will the last week of January have high "temperature"?

The year has just begun, however the talks about probable meetings
between the Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents over the settlement
of Karabakh conflict become more frequent. One of these probable
meetings is Sargsian-Aliyev meeting within the framework of Davos
economic forum from January 28 to February 1.

Connected with the continuation of the negotiations over the settlement
of Karabakh conflict, Armenian President's press secretary Samvel
Farmanian announced that at present there is no arrangement over the
coming meeting between the Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents.

"Though the negotiation process of Karabakh conflict settlement suppose
holding of meetings, including meetings at the level of presidents",
    Farmanian mentioned.

Yesterday, RA President's press secretary told "Azg" daily that in
essence, it is not clear yet whether Serzh Sargsian will participate
in Davos economic forum or not.

Earlier, OSCE Minsk Group Co-chair Yuri Merzlyakov announced that
the next meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents would
take place in the framework of Davos economic forum from January 28
to February 1. OSCE MG US Co-chair Matthew Bryza also made similar
    announcement.

OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs will arrive in Armenia on January 20,
before they will visit Baku. During their visit to Yerevan, meetings
are scheduled between the Co-chairs and RA President Serzh Sargsian
and RA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian.

As the OSCE MG US Co-chair Matthew Bryza told the Azerbaijani news
agencies, the aim of the Co-chairs' visit is the preparation for the
    meeting between the two presidents.

Though the probability of Sargsian-Aliyev meeting is not officially
affirmed, it is more probable that the meeting will take place; just
in those days, when in Strasburg the PACE will discuss the issue of
depriving Armenia of the voting right as a sanction against Armenia
for not implementing the PACE resolutions 1609 and 1620.

It will be interesting how the European institutions will synthesize
the parallelism of the above-mentioned events in their discussions.
