AZERBAIJAN EXPECTS MORE CONCRETE EXPLANATION FROM RUSSIA CONCERNING REPORTS ON ARMENIAN ARMS DEAL

Baku. Lachin Sultanova-APA. Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs
expects more concrete answer for its repeated questions about reports
on transferring of 8 million dollars worth of arms from Russian
military base in Gumru (Armenia) to the Armenian armed forces, first
secretary of the ministry's press service told APA.
Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan Vasiliy Istratov delivered his
country's respond to Azerbaijani foreign minister Elmar Mammadyarov,
but Azerbaijan considered it not satisfactory and demanded more
concrete explanation.
Then Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov phoned to his Azerbaijani
counterpart and said his ministry investigated the issue together with
the General Staff. Lavrov said Russia didn't carry out any transfer
of arms and ammunitions from Gumru military to Armenia officially.
Both ministers agreed to continue consultations toward the detailed
investigation of this issue.
