SERZH SARGSYAN MEETS WITH NEWLY-APPOINTED MEMBERS OF CASSATION COURT

YEREVAN, JANUARY 21, NOYAN TAPAN. Each member of the Cassation Court,
a body working by the mechanism of collegiate decision making, should
have a sense of responsibility for every decision made. The Armenian
president Serzh Sargsyan stated this at the January 21 meeting with
the newly-appointed members of the Cassation Court. He pointed out that
"a collegiate decision does not mean less personal responsibility".
In the president's words, the Cassation Court will play a significant
role at the current stage of reforms made in the legal system and
the development of the country. "If we succeed in forming really
independent and impartial judicial bodies and an adequate court
practice, we will succeed in becoming a normal, developed and
democratic country," he said.
According to the RA presidential press service, the meeting
participants discussed issues related to increasing the role of courts
and efficient administration of justuce, as well as measures aimed
at raising public trust in judicial authorities.
