TURKISH FM: "I WILL NOT BE SURPRISED IF THIS YEAR WE SETTLE THE PROBLEMS WITH ARMENIA"

The Turkish Foreign minister Ali Babacan announced that 2009 may become
a turning point for the Turkish-Armenian relations and announced that
"Frankly speaking, I will not be surprized if this year we settle
problems with Armenia", he said upon arrival to Davos (Switzerland)
in the interview to CNN-Turk.
The Turkish FM reminded that in Davos he will meet and discuss problems
of the Karabakh conflict with the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia,
as well as the OSCE MG co-chairs.
Babacan noted that Turkey attaches special importance to the soonest
resolution of the Karabakh problem.
He also touched upon the resolution of the Turkish-Armenian relations:
"Frankly speaking, I will not be surprised if the problems are settled
this year. That is the year of 2009 may become a turning point for the
Turkish-Armenian relations, both sides should retain their political
will in this issue till the end. Currently, we have this political
will. We see it in Armenia too, but the most important is to continue
it till the end", noted Babacan.
