    ADB SAYS INTERESTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ARMENIA

    YEREVAN, January 29. /ARKA/. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is
    interested in a long-term partnership with Armenia, ADB President
    Haruhiko Kuroda said during the Davos meeting with RA President
    Serzh Sargsyan.

    Hailing the RA government's actions in public administration and
    effective combination of all instruments, he said the bank is pursuing
    long-term cooperation with the country.

    Thanking Kuroda, the Armenian president greatly appreciated the bank's
    contribution to the country. Sargsyan expressed the hope that bilateral
    relations between Armenia and ADB will develop further.

    Later this evening, Sargsyan is to meet Turkish Prime Minister Recep
    Tayyip Erdogan.

    Established in 1966, ADB is composed of 63 member-countries. On
    September 20, 2005 Armenia became ADB member by joining the
    Agreement on the Establishment of the Asian Development Bank. The
    Armenian government and ADB have signed a number of agreements and a
    memorandum of understanding. The bank has earmarked $83mln for rural
    road reconstruction and water supply projects in Armenia.
