SERZH SARGSYAN: WE ATTACH MUCH IMPORTANCE TO COOPERATION WITH OSCE

YEREVAN, JULY 3, NOYAN TAPAN. RA President Serzh Sargsyan receiving
OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Foreign Minister of Greece Dora Bakoyannis
on July 3 mentioned that her visit is a good occasion to get acquainted
with the regional problems on the spot, to discuss the issues on
Armenia-OSCE agenda, as well as to exchange opinions over subjects
of mutual interest.
"We attach much importance to cooperation with OSCE, which remains
a factor strengthening stability and peace in our region, active
performer in the process of democracy, human rights development,"
S. Sargsyan said. He attached importance to support of OSCE, OSCE
Yerevan Office to reforms carried out in various spheres of Armenia's
life.
In her turn, D. Bakoyannis highly assessed cooperation between the
RA government and OSCE Yerevan Office and the results they managed
to achieve.
In her words, the agreement signed with her Armenian colleague today
creates new possibilities for cooperation and efficient work.
According to the report of the RA President's Press Office, during
the conversation the sides also exchanged thoughts over the Nagorno
Karabakh problem and normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations.
S. Sargsyan said that Armenia is inflexible in the issue of Nagorno
Karabakh peaceful settlement. He emphasized that as a result of
OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs' efforts the Azeri side has started to
more seldom speak about the military way of conflict settlement
lately. "Though I consider that the conflict settlement negotiations
process has been definitely directed to a positive course I am not
content with the negotiations process, as the Azeri side tries to
misrepresent both the negotiations process and the essence of the
proper conflict," he said.
S. Sargsyan reiterated Armenia's readiness for normalizing relations
with Turkey without preconditions.
D. Bakoyannis highly assessed RA President's initiative to normalize
bilateral relations with Turkey. He also welcomed the amnesty granted
by NA lately.
A tete-a-tete talk between S. Sargsyan and D. Bakoyannis took place
after the meeting.
