TEACHERS AND HEADMASTERS OF ISTANBUL ARMENIAN SCHOOLS FEEL UNPROTECTED, MARMARA DAILY GIVES ALARM

    Noyan Tapan
    July 6, 2009

ISTANBUL, JULY 6, NOYAN TAPAN - ARMENIANS TODAY. The Marmara
daily reports citing unofficial sources that the headmasters of the
Karagjozian Tun and Gatygjugh's Aramian- Uncuyan schools in Istanbul
were relieved of their positions. Some teachers were also relieved
of their positions, some of which look for a job in other schools.

The Marmara daily is worried that today a lack of qualified teachers
and directors is noticed at Armenian schools. The orders of the
district officials and trustees to relieve the pedagogues of their
positions in recent years call forth much concern in the community. The
teachers and headmasters feel insecure and uprotected. According to
the newspaper, unfortunately, there is no higher educational body or
educational council which can protect the rights of the pedagogues.
