Lunchtime talk: U.S. diplomat on Obama

The South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) in
conjunction with the Pietermaritzburg Chamber of Business is hosting
the U.S. Consul-General Jill Derderian for a talk entitled `Change we
can believe in? The Obama Administration'.
Derderian took office as the U.S. Consul-General in Durban in
September last year. She has extensive experience of Africa, having
served in the U.S. embassies in Zambia, Pretoria and Angola. Her
career with the U.S. Foreign Service has included spells in Colombo,
Hong Kong and Mumbai, India.
She is a masters graduate in public affairs from Princeton
University. She speaks Japanese and Portuguese.
Derderian's talk is set for July 16 at 12.30 pm at Chamber
House. Entry is R75 for members of SAIIA, R100 for members of PCB and
R130 for non-members.
Students who produce their student cards will pay R20. Lunch will be
offered (with a vegetarian option on prior request), and a cash bar
will be available.
