AIRBALTIC LAUNCHES NONSTOP FLIGHTS FROM RIGA TO TURKU

On Thursday, 9 July 2009, Latvian airline airBaltic will launch nonstop
flights from Riga to Turku, city of Finland, which is situated in
the southwest of the country at the estuary of the Aura River to the
Baltic Sea. airBaltic will fly to Turku four times a week: on Mondays,
Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Passengers will board a Fokker 50
airplane for a flight that will last for 1 hour and 20 minutes. One-way
ticket prices will start at LVL 26 (EUR 37), including airport taxes
and transaction fees. Schedule of flights is available on company's

fifth destination city of airBaltic in Finland and thus strengthens
the network of our Scandinavian routes. The new route is particularly

Turku is the historical centre of Finland as it was the capital of the
country during the period from 1809 till 1812. The city is one of the
most important Finnish ports and is called "the Finnish gate to the
West". The main attraction of the city is its magnificent fortress,
which provides comprehensive view in the history of Finland. The Aura
River flows through Turku and seats a medieval palace and a cathedral
on its banks. Turku is also the official Christmas city of Finland and
there is the land of the hero of Tove Jansson books - troll Moomin,
only 15 kilometres away from Turku on Kailo island.
airBaltic has already supplemented its route map with 10 cities in the
summer 2009: Palanga, Kaunas (both Lithuania), Tartu (Estonia), Turku
