ARIS BABIKIAN APPOINTED CANADIAN CITIZENSHIP JUDGE

OTTAWA
The former executive director of the Armenian National Committee
of Canada Aris Babikian has been appointed as citizenship judge
for a three-year full-time term, according to a report by the
Armenian community in Canada, Canada's Citizenship, Immigration and
Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney announced.
He will make decisions regarding citizenship applications, preside
the citizenship ceremonies and organize the oath of citizenship for
new citizens.
For the last two decades, A. Babikian has been involved in immigration,
citizenship, social services, culture, human rights and multicultural
issues in his community, and is considered an ambassador for the
Armenian-Canadian community. He speaks English, Armenian, Arabic,
Turkish and Greek.
