Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan on July 16 announced a day of
mourning for the 168 passengers killed in the July 15 crash of an
Iranian plane bound for Yerevan from Tehran. Most of the passengers
were Armenian.
Flags today were flying half-mast on Armenian government buildings and
embassies abroad and broadcast media cut entertainment programming,
media outlets reported.
An unnamed representative of the plane's manufacturer, the Russian
company Tupolev, told CNN that the company would not comment on the
crash until the Russian Interstate Aviation Committee releases a
report on the incident.
