VTB Bank Armenia branch located at 56 Baghramyan Street, Yerevan,
was robbed at 9.20 a.m. local time today.
"It was a well-organized and noiseless robbery," say local residents
who say to have learnt about the robbery after the arrival of an
ambulance and police.
"They had chosen the best time for the robbery-15 minutes after the
bank's opening. Most shops were closed at that time," said a gentleman.
"On my way to baker's this morning I noticed an employee and the head
of the department inside the bank. I found the bank overcrowded on
my return. But no one seemed to be aware of anything. I thought an
accident had happened," said pensioner Jenya Sahakian, resident of
a nearby building.
The greengrocers and florists of the nearby shops were also unaware
of the robbery.
"We learnt about the robbery after we arrived at work at about 10,"
they said.
Generally, people avoided speaking before a camera. After we switched
it off they said: "We are convinced that the bank has been robbed
by policemen. Who else could break into the bank, open the safe and
take money?"
The RoA Police informs that three masked people entered the fourth
branch of VTB Bank at 56, Baghramyan Street, Yerevan and beat Manager
Seda H., born in 1954. The criminals fled, taking 3,900 000 AMD,
3,040 USD, 420 Euros and 18,000 Russian rubles.
The Police take measures to find the criminals. Investigation is
under way at the Arabkir Police Department.
Seda H. was taken to "St. Grigor Lusavoritch" medical center.
