COGNITIVE DISSONANCE

02:15:10 PM PDT I'm not sure what to make of it. I feel now that
this site has become nothing more than the chorus for the same
centrist democrat(which is the same as centrist republican) agenda
that I thought this site opposed. I remember, 2004, the site was
so alive. Debate, ideas, calls to action, excitement, idealism. I
guess its fitting. I came to this site when I was a college freshman,
idealistic and hopeful that change would come. Change did come....we
exchanged a good ol' boy son of a president for a black junior senator
from Illinois who can channel MLK and JFK yet cannot match either
one when the requirements extend beyond repeating whats scrolls on
the teleprompter. Face it, Obama has completely failed to live up to
his platform.....even in rhetoric! But its not just Obama..its not
his fault....I should have known better. As I said before throwing my
support behind him, "I like what he has to say, but anyone who gets
the approval of the national democratic party had to compromise his
morals somewhere along the way." In others words, he sold out. And
those who refuse to call him out have sold out as well.

and a frontpage article highlighting Foxy News Lady Megyn Kelly
complaining about Obama's lack of bush rhetoric. Totally misses the
point. Who cares what fox news says? people who watch fox news are
much like the people here. They come for a daily dose of their brand of
propaganda. Fortified with good feeling attacks on the "other side" as
if foolish republican voters have anything to do with the continuation
of Bush policies by Obama...and congressional democrats by the way.
If you still believe that democrats in congress will pass single
payer...get a grip. If you still believe there will be investigations
into torture.....get a grip.....if you think cheney will be brought
to task for lying about the Iraq war....get a grip....if you think
the 9/11 commission report was accurate, get a fucking grip.
What I dont understand is how this site, which used to rip into the
bush administration with relish, rolls over and takes it from the
obama administration. Ok Ok Ok, maybe im a bit harsh? maybe we have
seen progressive reform? i mean, we have surely seen a progressively
violent police state evolve around us no? progressive violations of the
geneva conventions, progressive wrecking of our economy, progressive
sell-off of General Motors while the taxpayers are stuck with the
companies liabilities, our country is going into the proverbial
toilet. And while we stand ready to ban a member for having the
BALLS to write diaries on a subject that America has yet to reckon
itself 9/11, we happily trot down the path to 3rd world living. We
are now a mockery of a site, a mockery of democracy as a nation,
and a mockery as human beings. Im surprised you guys havent banned
people for writing pro-marijuana diaries yet but I guess that issue
has been given reprieve from the black no free speech zone. Voting
for democrats and democrats alone, without respect to what they do
when in office is NOT DEMOCRACY.
Believing lies, spreading lies, suppressing calls for truth.......
THIS IS A MOCKERY.
I would spend the time to step by step, logically present an argument
in favor of re-opening investigations into 9/11.....but there is
little reason too. No one will listen. You are content in your circle
jerk and have yet to notice that you now find yourself among dick
cheney, george bush, rummy, condi, and others in their quest for a
new american century.
I dont know if this is the right thing to do. My diary is poorly
written, ad hoc, and non-sensical. (hey whats the 9/11 commission got
on me) but after much gnashing of teeth on my part, a friend suggested
that I commit myself to my word and make a stand. Its time. 9/11,
Oklahoma city, JFK's murder, and even to some extent Pearl Harbor
were all carefully orchestrated MEDIA events that shocked the nation
into submission. These abuses sometimes pale in comparison to abuses
around the world, Pinochet, the dirty war in argentina, the contras
in nicaragua, the armenian massacre, the holocaust, stalin's purges
and famines, the killing fields of cambodia, the tianamen square
massacre all of these events were perpetrated by a small minority
against a majority.
The right wing talking heads are at least funny, our talking heads
are obnoxious self righteous snobs who think the greatest battles
this country faces are gay rights. Gay rights is a non issue, as many
on this site pointed out when it was used as a red herring to earn
the votes of bible thumpers for bush. Yet nowadays, with the litany
of diaries on the subject, you would think there was a conspiracy
against gays. Instead of rallying for truth, we rally for the issue
of the day....content to feed from the trough. THINK THINK THINK
