PRIVATE TALK OF RA AND RF PRESIDENTS TAKES PLACE ON JUNE 4 IN SAINT PETERSBURG

SAINT PETERSBURG, JUNE 5, NOYAN TAPAN. RA President Serzh Sargsyan,
who is in Saint Petersburg on a visit, had a private talk with RF
President Dmitry Medvedev in the evening of June 4. According to the
report of the RA President's Press Office, Saint Petersburg meeting
was the 16th one between RA and RF leaders in bilateral and many-sided
formats after RA President's assuming his post.
D. Medvedev assessed as useful the recent frequent meetings from
point of view of Armenian-Russian cooperation, development of personal
relations and mentioned that they help to give quite concrete solutions
to concrete problems.
Thanking the RF President for the invitation to take part in Petersburg
Economic Forum, S. Sargsyan said that the forum gets an additional
significance in the conditions of the world economic-financial
crisis. He also thanked the RF President for providing a stabilizing
credit of 500m USD to Armenia.
Issues regarding cooperation between the two strategic allies, as
well as those regarding the regional and international agenda were
discussed during the talk.
The interlocutors touched upon the process of Nagorno Karabakh
settlement.
"After our last meeting we have worked with our Russian colleagues
over fulfillment of reached agreements. The Armenian side with the
assistance of the OSCE Minsk Group has diligently worked over the
Nagorno Karabakh problem settlement, persistently looking for ways that
will permit the Nagorno Karabakh people to live safely in their native
land, to independently decide their fate," S. Sargsyan emphasized.
The sides discussed issues related to further expansion of
Armenian-Russian economic cooperation and implementation of scheduled
programs, issues regarding the transport sphere, as well as touched
upon issues of military-political cooperation within the framework
of CSTO and formation of rapid reaction force.
A supper with participation of RF, RA, and Azeri Presidents took place
later on D. Medvedev's initiative, during which issues regarding the
Nagorno Karabakh peaceful settlement were discussed.
S. Sargsyan took part in the solemn opening ceremony of the 13th
International Petersburg Economic Forum in the morning of June 5.
