The first stage of locusts' combating was finished off. Combating
which had lasted about two weeks was successfully completed, a fact
that is seldom recorded in such pest controls.
he regular visits of high-ranking officials have become customary
for the latest 15 days. Government representatives and responsible
officials of the pest control staff at the head of the NA Chairman
Ashot Ghoulyan and Prime Minister Ara Haroutyunyan visited the front
line. The activity of the previous days considerably decreased,
however, in separate places combating was still on, after the sunset
groups of winged pests are possible to be localized and exterminated.
The high-ranking officials were in the pasture assembly point. In spite
of the late hour work was still in full swing. The Prime Minister
conveyed the thankfulness of the President to the participants of
pest combating.
Afterwards, an expanded conference round the results of the first
stage of pest control and the further tasks took place in Martakert
regional administration building.
Danger is averted and in the present stage of pest combating great
forces like the previous days are no longer necessary. Agricultural
machinery from other regions will be sent back.
Mass combating against locusts will be followed by moveable groups.
Twenty-four-hour incessant control aimed at discovering the new
irruption zones of locusts in time will be carried out.
Apparently, owners of almost entirely wiped out arable lands will be
provided state assistance. According to the initial calculations such
zones form a territory of 20 hectares.
