On June 9 Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian received Philip Gordon,
US Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs.

Greeting the guest, the Armenian Foreign Minister said that attaching
importance to the reinforcement of relations with the US, Armenia
would pursue the development and deepening of friendly partnership
    relations with the United States.

According to Assistant Secretary Gordon, the American side attaches
importance to the expansion of multifaceted cooperation with Armenia,
and this is evidenced by the fact that he paid his first foreign
visit to Armenia after assuming office.

Minister Nalbandian and Assistant Secretary Gordon thoroughly
discussed the further development of the Armenian-American relations,
emphasizing the importance of the activity of the Armenian-American
Intergovernmental Commission. Reference was made to issues connected
    with the Millennium Challenge Program.

The parties dwelt on the process of reforms in Armenia. Minister
Nalbandian presented the steps the Armenian authorities take towards
    implementation of democratic reforms.

Mr. Gordon confirmed the full support of the US Administration for the
steps taken in the direction of normalization of the Armenian-Turkish
    relations.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the settlement of the Artsakh
issue. In this context Philip Gordon underlined that as a co-chair
of the OSCE Minsk Group the United States would continue contributing
to the efforts to resolve the conflict.
