Day.Az Interview with MP Asim Mollazade, Chairman of the Party of
    Democratic Reforms.

    - How do you evaluate the outcome of the meeting between the presidents
of Armenia and Azerbaijan, which took place in St. Petersburg?

    - We have again witnessed a simulation of negotiations to settle
the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh from the side of Armenia
and the fact that once again the statements by the co-chairs of the
Minsk Group (MG) proved unfounded. I am convinced that the absence
of a specific result of meetings between the Presidents of Armenia
and Azerbaijan shows the need for the world community to finally
express their attitude to the actions of Armenia, which occupies a
very nonconstructive position in the negotiation process.

    - How do you evaluate the prospect of involving Turkey as the
fourth co-chair of OSCE to the negotiation process to resolve the
    Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict?

    - The participation of Turkey has, of course, a positive impact on
the equitable settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh
conflict. But at the same time, I do not think that changing the
composition of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs will lead to a speedy and
just settlement of the conflict. Again, the international community
should take concrete steps to force Armenia to execute resolutions
on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which have already been adopted
by various influential international organizations. Otherwise, the
process of the just settlement of the conflict will continue to falter.

    - More than a half dozen years have passed since Armenia occupied
20% of Azerbaijani lands, but until now the international community
has not put pressure on Armenia which would do for a just settlement
of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. What gives us hope that the world
community will put pressure on Armenia at last?

    - Azerbaijan in the years since the signing of a ceasefire agreement
has become a developed nation, which plays a key role in the region,
participates in all regional projects in the South Caucasus and is
actively involved in global processes. This status of Azerbaijan,
the growing relevance and credibility of our country, as well as the
interest of very influential countries in restoration of Azerbaijan's
territorial integrity and maintaining stability in the entire South
Caucasus region are among the causes of change in the position of
the international community on this conflict.
