ARMENIA TO HOST 39TH WORLD CONGRESS IN SOCIOLOGY

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ On June 11-14, Yerevan State University (YSU) will
host the 39th World Congress in Sociology. Conference titled "Sociology
on Intersections" is taking place in Armenia for the first time.
The event is organized by Stockholm International Sociology Institute
in cooperation with YSU and Swiss Board of Leading Research.
Discussion will focus on theoretical and methodological achievements
in social sciences, ways of overcoming global crisis, modernization
of existing models in post-Soviet countries etc.
Within conference frameworks, it is also planned to organize a special
session devoted to problems of genocide an mass violence. Armenian
representatives participating in the conference will be Richard
Giragosyan and Hayk Demoyan. European side will be represented by
Elizabeth Claverin.
Issues concerning quasi-states will be discussed with the participation
of Hans Johans, well-known specialist in wars and modern society
problems.
Congress will be attended by over 450 specialists representing 89
universities in 50 states.
