On June 11 President of the National Assembly Mr. Hovik Abrahamyan
received Foreign Minister of Estonia Mr. Urmas Paet, who was in
Yerevan on an official visit.
Welcoming the guest the President of the National Assembly highlighted
his official visit in the context of the development of bilateral
relations, within the format of direct, as well as cooperation with
European Union. He expressed hope that Estonia as a member of the
European Union, will continue to actively promote the integration
into European family and Armenia's efforts directed to complying
with its standards. He also emphasized the Armenian-Estonian Economic
Forum, being held in Yerevan, which can boost the cooperation of the
businessmen of the two countries.
The interlocutors highly assessed the level of bilateral
political relations and expressed their satisfaction on that
occasion. Nevertheless, they noted that it was necessary to develop the
inter-parliamentary contacts, using the potential of the parliamentary
friendship groups existing in both countries and the legislators'
mutual visits.
During the meeting the sides also discussed issues regarding the
political situation of Armenia, stability of South Caucasus region
and Armenian-Turkish relations.
