    Georgia to be cornered dropping out of CIS

    /PanARMENIAN.Net/ The decision of the Georgian parliament to leave CIS
    has a technical nature, but corner Georgia, said vice-chairman of
    international affairs committee of State Duma Andrey Climov. According
    to him, problems of Georgia started from the moment when they
    reoriented from CIS to other far horizons, such as "Washington,
    Brussels and NATO".
    " Remaining in CIS, Georgian authorities could raise their country at
    the cost of integration in the Commonwealth, as well as to save their
    territorial integrity, since particularly in the framework of CIS they
    could secure peaceful settlement of South-Ossetia problem", Klimov
    said.
    According to him, Georgia has received a heaviest political crisis,
    the country has not joined NATO so far, two states dropped out of the
    Georgia - Russia recognized independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia
    at the end of last August , RIA Novosti reports.
    On June 12, 2009 the Parliament of Georgia unanimously adopted two
    resolutions `About Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of CIS', according to
    which the formal procedure of withdraw from the Commonwealth has been
    finalized. On Friday after two-month interval the legislative
    authority of the country gathered for a plenary session, despite
    continuing rallies of the Georgian opposition. `Georgia has already
    left CIS. There is an official letter in that connection, which I sent
    to relative bodies of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly a year
    ago. Therefore today we finalize that process legally and with formal
    resolution,' David Barkadze, Georgian parliament speaker said.
