  • Repairs On Georgian Pipeline To Halt Russian Gas Supplies To Armenia

REPAIRS ON GEORGIAN PIPELINE TO HALT RUSSIAN GAS SUPPLIES TO ARMENIA FROM JUNE 16-21

    Russia

The transit of Russian natural gas to Armenia will be temporarily
suspended from June 16 to 21 as Georgia makes repairs to a gas
pipeline, Armrosgazprom, Armenia's sole gas supplier, said in a
    statement.

Georgia's gas transportation company has officially notified
Armrosgazprom about the temporary stoppage in gas supplies to Armenia.

The Georgian company is planning to link a new 3.6-kilometer section to
the Kazakh-Saguramo pipeline with a diameter of 1,000 millimeters from
June 16 to 21. During this period, Armenia will receive unrestricted
gas supplies from reserves at the Abovyansk underground gas storage
    facility.

The Sever-Yug gas pipeline, which supplies Russian gas to Georgia
and Armenia, was built in the 1970s.

Georgia receives 10% of total gas supplies to Armenia as payment for
    transiting the natural gas.

CJSC Armrosgazprom was set up in 1997. The company's main shareholder
    is Gazprom (RTS: GAZP).

Armenia has been buying gas from Russia at a price of $154 per 1,000
cubic meters since April 1, 2009.
