/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Armenian-Iranian relations are deepening, following
the recent presidential elections, Iranian Studies specialist Sevak
Sarukhanyan, deputy director of Noravank foundation, told journalists
today. "During Ahmadinejad's presidency, official Tehran will continue
developing ties with Yerevan and strengthening positions in Caucasus,"
Sarukhanyan stressed, adding that US-Iran relations will continue
to remain tense. Regardless the outcome of presidential elections,
he said, Armenian-Iranian relations would develop anyway.
"I am sure that the most large-scale investment programs, such as
Armenia-Iran railway construction, hydro-electric power construction
and the launch of an oil pipeline, will be implemented within upcoming
4-5 years," Sarukhanyan said. US-Iran confrontation, according to
the expert, is somehow beneficial to Armenia, as it will increase
Iran's activeness in the region and push the country to develop ties
with Yerevan.
