Alexander Arzumanyan, Suren Sirunyan, ex-Deputies Hakob Hakobyan
and Myasnik Malkhasyan were released right from the courtroom
today. The court had sentenced them to 5 years of imprisonment,
except for Sirunyna, who had been given a term of 4 years. However,
the convicts were set free today thanks to the decision on amnesty
the National Assembly took on June 19.
The former conviscts were welcomed in front of the court by
exclamations: "Free, independent Armenia." Later the people marched
to Myasnikyan monument, from where they left for Abovyan. Today the
Common Jurisdiction Court of Kotayk will return a verdict on Sasun
Mikaelyan accused under Articles 225.1 and 235.1.2. The prosecutor
demands nine years of imprisonment for Sasun Mikaelyan.
The hearing on the case of Grigor Voskerchyan will continue at the
Common Jurisdiction Court of Kentron and Nork Marash communities today.
