ArmInfo. STAR Company, the biggest retailer of Armenia, starts
large-scale business reorganization based on the international
standards, to assure a qualitatively high development level. According
to STAR Executive Director Vahan Kerobyan, consultants of one of the
well-known western retail networks, Wal-Mart, will assist in solution
of the task set. They will work over implementation of the European
standards and the corresponding procedures in the STAR network during
a year.
It is scheduled to launch the project of reorganization, assisted
by one of the big shareholders of STAR, the European Bank for
Reconstruction and Development, in July. It implies essential increase
of requirements to the business-processes, suppliers and the staff
of the network. It is also scheduled to perform certification of
the supermarkets' personnel, as well as implement a new system of
their motivation. "The personnel of the stores will be introduced
new tools of work, for the benefit of customers", Operating Director
of the network Levon Soghomonyan said and added that reorganization
aims at satisfaction of the customers' interests and needs in the
price and assortment policy of the network supermarkets, as well as
development of service and improvement of its quality. Moreover,
he said that within the frames of the project of reorganization,
it is scheduled to correct the company's organizational structure
and the staff schedule, as well as optimize the work of the network
supermarkets. In particular, 7 supermarkets of STAR, functioning
primarily in the bedroom districts of Yerevan, will work from 8:30 AM
till 1:00 AM and not round-the-clock started July 1. "This is one of
the first steps for improvement and optimization of the network work.
According to the world practice, around-the-clock work is peculiar
and efficient for the stores in the center of the city and not in
the bedroom districts", L. Soghomonyan emphasized.
STAR Marketing Director Narine Avetisyan pointed out the reasons for
which it is necessary to carry out reorganization of the network,
one of which is the impetuously growing competition in the retail
market. "STAR Company has always been a leader and the first to
implement the innovations in Armenia's retail business. We intend to
continue this tradition, using the up-to-date tools and approaches, for
good of qualitative and continuous development of the Armenian market.
