YOUNG DIASPORA REPRESENTATIVES MET WITH DEPUTY MAYOR OF YEREVAN

Summer Internship Program in Armenia met Monday with Deputy Mayor of
Yerevan Kamo Areyan to exchange views on education, environment and
cultural issues.
Young students expressed their concerns about the 'poverty' of Armenian
universities and the condition of old buildings which symbolize the
Armenian architecture.
Mr. Areyan briefed on the projects the city administration is going
to launch. He also stressed the important role of Diaspora.
The Armenian Assembly of America Summer Internship Program in Armenia
was established 30 years ago and aims to introduce college-aged
students to life in their ancestral homeland, and to foster the skills
needed to help them become the next generation of leaders. Interns
participate, working in various government offices in Armenia, such
as the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Ministry of Finance
and Economy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as with various
non-governmental organizations such as the International Center for
Human Development.
