Today's debate between the Chairman of the National Assembly's
Standing Committee on Finance-Credit and Budgeting, Republican Gagik
Minasyan and member of the "Heritage" faction Vardan Khachatryan
started with the assessment of yesterday's opposition rally and
Levon Ter-Petrosyan's speech. Gagik Minasyan said the part of the
speech, in which the first President was trying to present Armenia's
future situation as disastrous because of the financial crisis was
unacceptable to him.
"Once again I came to the conclusion that Levon Ter-Petrosyan's
predictions usually do not come true. This is not the first time, and
I think that these predictions will also fail to come true. In general,
the future socio-economic situation of Armenia he pictured is far from
what is expected in reality in the current year," Gagik Minasyan said.
Asked to comment on the suspension of the rallies until the 1st of May,
Vardan Khachatryan said: "Most probably, there are certain reasons in
the first President's stance, which I'm not personally aware of. At
the same time, it's very important to know when it is most proper to
start the rallies."
