Washington-APA. US Republican Congressman Bill Shuster emphasized the
importance of protection and development of US-Turkish relations in
his address to the House members.
According to APA, Bill Shuster said Turkey played important role in
the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq and fully supported the
US-led operation in Afghanistan. Shuster's address related to the
Armenian lobby's attempt to include the draft resolution on the false
"Armenian genocide" in the agenda of the US Congress.
Member of the House of Representatives Adam Schiff promised at his
meeting with 75 members of the Armenian National Committee of America
to include the draft resolution in agenda. He said Turkish lobby put
all efforts to prevent it. "I hope the US Congress will adopt the draft
resolution on the "genocide of Armenians in Ottoman Empire during
the World War I" and President Obama will sign it despite Turkey's
serious resistance. My colleagues in the Congress know that Armenian
genocide is historical factor and Barack Obama agrees with this idea".
