Deput y Foreign Minister of Armenia meets with UNAIDS delegation
On March 3, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Arman Kirakossian
received Fritz Lherrison, Regional Director for Central Asia and
Eastern Europe of United Nations Office on HIV/AIDS and Manoela
Grazdanova, the newly appointed coordinator of the same Office who
will coordinate the efforts of the South Caucasus countries aimed at
the struggle against HIV/AIDS.
In the course of the meeting Mr. Lherrison presented Mrs. Grozdanova
highly appreciating her professional skills and work experience and
expressed hope that cooperation with the Armenian authorities will
continue with the same effectiveness. He mentioned that he is full of
hope that thanks to the undertaken steps Armenia can reach universal
access till 2010 which is a cornerstone for all countries in HIV/AIDS
prevention, treatment and support.
Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister welcomed the activity of that office
in our republic and reaffirmed that the government is engaged to reach
universal access in the struggle against HIV-AIDS. He also expressed
readiness to cooperate with the newly appointed regional coordinator
to overcome the challenges that our country faces in the area.
