YEREVAN, MARCH 16, NOYAN TAPAN. At the March 12 sitting, the Armenian
government approved the order of collection of the state duty for
departure of natural persons from Armenia by air tranpsort. The
decision envisages including the sums of the state duty levied for
the departure of natural persons from the Republic of Armenia by air
transport in ticket prices. It is stipulated that the RA State Revenue
Committee implements calculation of the state duty and supervision of
the observance of the order of duty collection. The Central Department
of Civil Aviation was instructed to make changes proceeding from the
decision in the procedure of passenger registration within 10 days,
as well as to ensure that the organizations selling plane tickets
spread information on the order of the state duty's collection at
points of ticket sale and in public places.
The RA minister of finance Tigran Davtian said at a briefing after the
sitting that the new order will take effect on March 29, 2009. In his
words, it will reduce corruption risks, red tape and complaints. "There
will be technical difficulties in the initial period, but we are
working with the airlines and the RA Central Department of Civil
Aviation in order to make this shift as smooth as possible," he said.
