ANC TO NEGOTIATE WITH "HERITAGE" OVER RUNNING IN YEREVAN MAYOR ELECTIONS BY UNITED LIST

YEREVAN, MARCH 16, NOYAN TAPAN. At the March 15 joint sitting of the
political board and the head office of the Armenian National Congress
(ANC), a decision was made to empower the head office to discuss
"Heritage" party's proposal on running in the upcoming elections of
Yerevan mayor by a united list and to start official negotiations in
this connection.
To recap, the first Armenian president Levon Ter-Petrosian, who will
lead the list of the ANC running in Yerevan mayor's elections, took
part in this sitting. According to a press release of the ANC, the
above mentioned decision was made, "taking into account the essential
role of the city of Yerevan in the political and economic life of
the country, as well as the fact these elections should be viewed as
a key stage for restoring the constitutional order in the country".
