ArmInfo. Opposition Party Heritage will not participate in municipal
elections in a single list with the opposition Armenian National
Congress (ANC), Heritage Press Secretary Hovsep Khurshudyan said.
'Our party met overnight and discussed the issue of unification
with the extra-parliamentary opposition, the Armenian National
Congress. I'd like to emphasize that Heritage had no intention to
refuse from participation in a single list with the ANC. Heritage
just proposed ANC to revise the succession in the list and change
the structure. The proposal was rejected.
So the party refuses to participate in the elections of mayor in a
single list with ANC', Khurshudyan said.
ANC Political Council and Central Office made a decision on March
15 to participate in the municipal elections. The first president
of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan will be the first in the list of the
ANC candidates.
The elections to the Elders' Council will be held on May 31 2009. The
Elders Council will comprise 65 people. The first in the list of the
party that will gain majority will automatically become Yerevan Mayor.
