ARKADY GHUKASIAN'S APPOINTMENT AS AMBASSADOR AT LARGE NOT EXTRAORDINARY

at large is not the first case in Armenia," Press Service Department
Head at RA MFA Tigran Balayan told PanARMENIAN.Net reporter. "At
different times the Ambassador at large post was bestowed on Ashot
Melik Shahnazaryan, David Hovhannesyan, Levon Khatchatryan and David
Shahnazaryan," Balayan noted. The Ambassador at large appointment is
regulated by art. 14 of RA Law on Diplomatic service The Ambassadors
in RA can only be appointed by the presidential decree.
On Mar. 17 Arkadi Ghukasyan was appointed as RA Ambassador at large
by the presidential decree. Arkadi Ghukasyan has been NKR President
from 1997 to 2007.
