ArmInfo. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and Azerbaijani President
Ilham Aliyev met in Prague, Czech Republic, on May 7, the Armenian
presidential press-service told ArmInfo. The presidents' meeting took
place in the presence of Armenian and Azeri Foreign Ministers Edward
Nalbandian and Elmar Mammadyarov, OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs Yuri
Merzlyakov, Bernard Fassier and Matthew Bryza, as well as Personal
Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk. Then
the two countries' presidents held a face-to-face meeting which lasted
over two hours. The Armenian party qualified the meeting in Prague
as useful, which gave an opportunity to the parties to clarify the
approaches to the basic principles of the Karabakh conflict settlement.
The Armenian and Azeri foreign ministers were instructed to continue
the work with the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs on agreeing the basic
principles of the conflict settlement on the basis of "Madrid
proposals", and prepare the next meeting of the two countries'
presidents.
Within the frames of the two-day working visit to the Czech Republic,
Serzh Sargsyan is expected to participate in the Eastern Partnership
Summit and make a speech, as well as to hold other bilateral
meetings. To note, according to OSCE Minsk Group Russian Co-chair Yuri
Merzlyakov, the next meeting of the Armenian and Russian presidents
will apparently take place in St.Petersbourg in July.
