GENERAL CHEMISTRY;
New general chemistry findings from Yerevan State University published
According to recent research published in the Russian Journal of
General Chemistry, "Chemical oxidative polymerization of
4-aminoazobenzene under the action of iodine was studied for the first
time. Samples of poly(4-aminoazobenzene) with different molecular mass
depending on the reaction conditions were obtained."
"Their structures were studied by means of the IR and H-1 NMR
spectroscopy and viscometry. The polymers obtained contain mainly
imino-1,4-phenylenazo-1,4-phenylene units," wrote A.A. Durgaryan and
colleagues, Yerevan State University (see also General Chemistry).
The researchers concluded: "Together with the polymers,
3-iodo-4-aminoazobenzene is also formed."
Durgaryan and colleagues published their study in Russian Journal of
General Chemistry (Oxidative polymerization of 4-aminoazobenzene under
the action of iodine. Russian Journal of General Chemistry,
2009;79(2):252-257).
