CONFERENCE ON "SECURITY AND COOPERATION IN THE SOUTH CAUCASUS" TO BE HELD IN ARMENIA

On the initiative of the National Security Council of Armenia, an
international conference on "Security and Cooperation in the South
Caucasus and around it" will take place in Yerevan on May 15-16.
The conference will feature about 40 representatives from 25
countries, including Russia, Italy, France, Great Britain, the
Kingdom of Netherlands, Japan, India, Iran, Egypt, Sweden, Australia,
Israel, Poland, China, Vietnam, Turkey, Germany, the United States,
Canada, Ukraine, Estonia Belarus, Kazakhstan, Iraq, as well as from
international organizations inclusive of the European Union, OSCE
and CSTO. Senior Armenian officials and Ambassadors accredited in
Armenia will also participate in the sitting.
The participants will discuss the issues of security of the South
Caucasus in the context of contemporary European security. Reference
will be made to the issues of settlement of the conflicts existing
in the region, energy and transport routes as factors of regional
security and cooperation, development of regional cooperation in
fighting international terrorism, drugs trafficking and illegal sale
of weapons and ensuring information security in the region.
