ArmInfo. The final electoral rally of the opposition will take part
on May 29, the chairman of the board of the Armenian National Movement
party Ararat Zurabyan said during a rally today.
In the coming days the ANC will meet with voters and will hold small
rallies in different communities of Yerevan.
The coordinator of the ANC Levon Zurabyan said that the May 29 will
the biggest rally of the opposition's electoral campaign for the post
of mayor of Yerevan. 'After the last rally some pro-governmental mass
media cynically rejoiced that it was not very big. I am sure that
today's rally will give them no more ground for joy,' Zurabyan said.
Today's rally is part of the ANC's electoral campaign for the post
of mayor of Yerevan. The law on local self-government in Yerevan
stipulates that the mayor should be elected by a council of 65 elders
(to be elected May 31).
The first number on the list of the party having polled majority of
seats in the council should automatically be proclaimed as mayor.
