If the Azerbaijani media did not mutate what their Foreign Minister
Mamedyarov said, so the latter stated that they did not reach any new
agreement with the Armenian new government, in connection with the
Nagorno-Karabakh issue settlement. Moreover, Mamedyarov stated that
they had agreed on "everything" with the previous administration,
in other words with Robert Kocharyan.
Mamedyarov did not go into details. Probably, it was not even
necessary. He told as much as it was needed. The question occurs, who
needed what he stated. Of course, first of all, it is Azerbaijani which
needs what he said, because in this case Armenia is represented as an
unconstructive side of the negotiations. But, the Azerbaijani Foreign
Minister issued a statement, which the Armenian government needs too.
The point is that, from Mamedyarov's statement, the impression is
created that Azerbaijan was more satisfied with the negotiation
process with the Kocharyan's administration. And, if Mamedyarov was
more satisfied with the Armenian previous government, this would mean
that Kocharyan had made more compromises which is the reason why they
had agreed on "everything", as Mamedyarov noted.
The result is that Serge Sargsyan's administration is represented
under the veil of a government, which is not willing to compromise. If
Azerbaijan is dissatisfied with Serge Sargsyan, this means that
the latter is more unbreakable in relation to the Nagorno-Karabakh
question. While in Armenia, Serge Sargsyan is accused of the
opposite. In other words, the Armenians accuse him of making a lot of
compromises in regard to the Karabakhi issue. The accusation comes
not only from the oppositional field but also from the one, which
directly or indirectly is connected to Robert Kocharyan. For example,
the ARF Dashnaktsutyun, which became opposition, started making more
blaming conclusions in connection with the policy of the Armenian
government relating to both the Armenian and Turkish relations and
the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.
Mamedyarov's statement seems to refute this accusation and hints the
contrary that it was Robert Kocharyan to satisfy Azerbaijan while
Serge Sargsyan does not. In fact, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister
helps Serge Sargsyan to defend himself from the home accusations and
criticism. Is not this the result of the meeting in Prague? Or this
may be a step to cover the result of that meeting, which Azerbaijan
makes to deprive its partner form the home repression. And, in reality
right this government which suits the best both Azerbaijan and the
mediator states.
After all, let us not forget, that the American Co-Chair of the
OSCE Minsk group Mathew Bryza stated several times, in addition
beginning from the first meeting between Sargsyan and Aliyev that they
have a better correlation and harmony of stances that Kocharyan and
Aliyev. And, Azerbaijan was refuting what Bryza was saying. Armenia was
not refuting though. Let us see whether Bryza will refute Azerbaijan
and will reiterate that Sargsyan and Aliyev are more familiar to each
other, than Kocharyan and Aliyev.
