ArmInfo. Without settlement of relations with Turkey Armenia cannot
develop fully-fledged in all senses, ex-president of Armenia, leader
of Armenian National Congress Levon Ter-Petrosyan said at today's
meeting dedicated to ending of the election champaign on the Yerevan
mayor elections.
'We have always come forward for establishment of relations with this
country via the fully-fledged dialogue. But we absolutely deny the
ways and methods as well as the price Armenia pays in this process
today. In particular, it in fact abandoned international recognition
of the Armenian genocide and made compromises in the Karabakh issue',
- he said.
Ter-Petrosyan added that Armenian National Congress will take all
possible steps to hinder setting up of the joint Armenian-Turkish
commission of historians to discuss common history. It will also
try to hamper making compromises by Armenia in the Karabakh conflict
settlement.
'But despite all the pressure imposed upon Armenian National Congress
by the Armenian authorities we are ready to fully support all the
steps of the present authorities which will be directed to supporting
but to the detriment of national interests of Armenia. In this way I
want to decline all accusations of the Movement by the West, according
to which the opposition is allegedly hindering 'constructive foreign
policy' of President Serzh Sargsyan', - Levon Ter-Petrosyan concluded.
