ArmInfo. Armenia needs stability to successfully overcome global
economic crisis, Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan said at a
polling station on May 31. The elections to the Elders' Council of
Yerevan are held for the first time on May 31. The first candidate in
the list of the party that will gain majority at the Council will
automatically become Yerevan Mayor.
The premier said the states able to ensure stability overcome crisis
aftermaths more successfully than others. 'That is why I vote for
stability', he said. The premier hopes the defeated party will admit
its defeat worthily. 'We have to form a new tradition of admitting
defeat in elections worthily', T. Sargsyan said. As of 1:00pm local
time, no falsifications or excesses hindered the voting, he said.
In response to ArmInfo's question regarding possible tension on June 1
like it was after the previous elections, T. Sargsyan said: 'I hope no
excesses like those after the previous elections will take place since
the election campaign was calmer than ever', he said.
