ROBERT SIMMONS: THOUGH NATO SUPPORTS NORMALIZATION OF ARMENIA-TURKEY RELATIONS, IT CAN NOT PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROCESS

Brussels - APA. "The normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations is a
positive sign for the stabilization of the situation in the region,"
NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the Caucasus and
Central Asia Robert Simmons said, APA reports. He noted that there
are still frozen conflicts in the region. Simmons said Armenia-Turkey
protocols cover the relations between the two countries.

"Though the alliance supports these relations, NATO can not participate
in this process or support one of the sides. We hope, the protocols
will be ratified, because, as I have said, these protocols have
important influence on the stability," he said.
