YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 9, NOYAN TAPAN. Armenian Guitar Music Festival
2009 will be held on November 9 at Yerevan Gabriel Sundukian National
Academic Theater. According to festival organizers Vahagn Amirkhanian
and Lily Karapetian, it is the first time such a large-scale festival
of guitar players will be held in Armenia, with participation of 13
guitar players who will perform their own pieces. Event's special
guests are Armenian guitar player from Moscow Mey Lian (Yuri Mayilian)
and Canadian virtuoso guitar player Dave Martoun.
The organizers promise "4-5 hours of high-quality sound and original
multi-genre performances" and a surprise in the final part. Meanwhile
it is mentioned that it is not a contest but a self-expression way
for musicians. They also assure that the festival will be permanent
and will be further expanded if funded properly. The organizers wish
to make the festival annual holiday "for guitar lovers, professional
musicians and lovers of good live music."
