Armenia
12:56 / 11/20/2009In the context of Azerbaijani President Ilham
Aliyev's recent statements that Azerbaijan is ready for war and
Zangezur, as well as entire Armenia, are Azerbaijani lands, no
serious positive results should be expected from the forthcoming
Armenian-Azerbaijani presidential meeting in Munich Giro Manoyan,
Head of the Hay Dat (Armenian Cause) office in Yerevan told NEWS.am.
Statements like that create a situation in Azerbaijan, which make
it impossible for President Aliyev to make any constructive steps in
the near future. "He is a hostage to a situation created by himself,"
Manoyan said. As long as Baku refuses to state that Nagorno-Karabakh
as no part of Azerbaijan can at least be considered as an option in
the settlement process, no progress should be expected. "Azerbaijan's
stance on Nagorno-Karabakh has not changed. Rather, that state has
even taken a harder line," Manoyan said.
