CRIMINAL CASE LAUNCHED ON THE ESCAPE OF LIFE-SENTENCED PRISONERS

A criminal case has been launched on the escape of life-sentenced
prisoners.
The employees of "Nubarashen" penitentiary of the Ministry of Justice
failed to carry out their obligations properly as a result of which on
November 27, 2009 at about 5 p.m. Mher Enokyan and Soghomon Kocharyan,
sentenced to life imprisonment for committing grave crimes, escaped
from the penitentiary.
A criminal case was initiated under the RA Criminal Code, Articles
355, part 2, point 1 and 315, part 1. A task force was formed and
search was announced for the escaped prisoners.
As a result of operative measures taken by the task force, the way
of escape was found out, the exhibits of the crime were confiscated,
an examination was nominated, and the operative-search bodies were
tasked to undertake all the necessary measures to find the prisoners
and all the details of the case. An examination is carried out to
identity those officials whose negligence and assistance enabled the
life-sentenced prisoners to escape.
