Republic of Armenia Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan participated in
the "Doing Business - 2010" forum in the Erebuni Plaza hotel complex,
co-hosted by the World Bank and the Government of Armenia and attended
by representatives from the Armenian private sector and civil society.
In his address to forum participants, Tigran Sargsyan highlighted
his government's focus on having a better business environment and
went on to advise that a special task force has been established
by presidential decree to improve the indicators reflected in the
Doing Business report. The head of the executive further said that
notwithstanding the progress recorded, serious efforts should be
exerted to improve both the legal framework and the administrative
proceedings in this area.
Tigran Sargsyan said Armenia's improved economic standing has to be
built on through closer cooperation between the State, the private
sector and non-governmental organizations.
Business environment-related challenges have been discussed based on
the survey provided in the Doing Business - 2010 report. The survey
is entitled "Reforming amid hardships," which is the seventh in a
series of the IMF- and World Ba nk-published annual reports.
The report states that Armenia has bettered its standing in the list
of 183 global economies.
