KFI 640 AM's BILL HANDEL DISCUSSES ARMENIAN GENOCIDE
GLENDALE, CA --- Last week, on September 23, KFI 640 AM radio host Bill
Handel discussed the Armenian Genocide with the author of a new book about
the story of one Armenian family's experiences in 1915 and the Armenian
American community's quest for recognition and justice. Handel interviewed
Michael Bobelian, the author of a recently released book called the Children
of Armenia: A Forgotten Genocide and the Century-long Struggle for Justice.
During the 12 minute interview, which was aired during the prime drive time
morning commute hour at 7:30am, Handel addressed both the efforts within the
United States to ensure that the US government appropriately acknowledges
the Armenian Genocide and Turkey's ongoing denial.
This past May, during a segment of the Bill Handel show, one of the show's
staff made an irresponsible joking comment referencing the Armenian Genocide
which upset the Armenian American community. KFI and Clear Channel
management and Bill Handel met with the ANC, community leaders and activists
to apologize for the comment and affirmed the Armenian Genocide was not a
joking matter and would not be addressed in this way again.
Handel, a well known and nationally syndicated radio talk show host, has
discussed the Armenian Genocide during past shows.
