EDWARD NALBANDIAN MEETS WITH UN SECRETARY GENERAL BAN KI-MOON

NEW YORK, SEPTEMBER 30, NOYAN TAPAN. RA Foreign Minister Edward
Nalbandian, who is in New York on a working visit, met with UN
Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on September 29. During the meeting
they touched upon issues on UN's agenda and issues of organization's
reformation, implementation process of Millennium goals, organization
of 2010 UN member countries' summit, as well as cooperation between
RA government and UN Armenian Office.
E. Nalbandian mentioned with satisfaction that programs implemented by
various UN agencies and foundations in Armenia proceed successfully. He
attached importance to signing of the UN Development Assistance
Program and its efficient implementation. At Ban Ki-moon's request
the RA Foreign Minister presented the normalization process of
Armenian-Turkish relations.
The UN Secretary General expressed support to Armenia's steps aimed
at normalizing the relations with Turkey.
The interlocutors also touched upon the Nagorno Karabakh problem.
According to a report by the RA Foreign Ministry Press and Information
Department, the same day at UN Central Headquarters E. Nalbandian
on behalf of RA signed the Facultative Protocol of International
Convention of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and UN Convention
on Total or Partial Goods Transportation by Sea.
