    AN ALL-IN-ONE NIGHTLIFE ICON REOPENS

    Hurriyet Daily News
    Friday, October 2, 2009

With the new season in full swing, it is impossible to count the number
of upcoming events in Istanbul. One of the city's best-known venues,
Ghetto opened its doors with a party on Friday night and is preparing
to host many more this fall.

Last year, the club featured many famous names from around the
world and several different styles of music. But this year the
program is even more crowded, including both international and local
musicians. The venue spans pop, jazz, latin, funk, rock, traditional,
folk and electronic sounds to satiate all music lovers.

The venue also went through a few renovations to improve sound quality
and acoustics for a better concert experience.

The Ayhan Sicimoglu & Latin All Stars night, which has become a
tradition for Ghetto, will be enriched with special guests accompanying
the orchestra. First up is Cuban singer Lenia Diaz.

Other acts slated to perform this month include the Oldtime Jazz
Quintett, Nekropsi, Café Aman, Sakin, Niyaz, Rare Groove Orchestra,
Yom from Pera Fest, Gui Boratto and Supermayer, Bluesaint, Serkan
Cagrı & Rumeli Band and the rappers Sattas and Ayben.

The venue will also continue its partnership with the Goethe Institute
and French Institute this season to organize concerts and events.

The two-story venue offers a tavern with Armenian and Greek cuisine
on its second floor, while the ground floor remains the stage and
concert venue. The second floor has a totally different concept than
the stage and bar. The walls are covered with paintings reflecting
the Renaissance and the atmosphere is a little gothic.

This year Ghetto also opened up a terrace for smokers, so those
craving a cigarette can avoid the crush on the street.
