On October 4, more than 12000 Armenians living in Los Angeles held a
protest demonstration in front of the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly
Hills where the Armenian president Serge Sargsyan stopped. The
protesters among which there were religious fathers, men, women,
grandmothers, grandfathers, families, students, and youths were voicing
for four hours running their disapproval of the Armenian and Turkish
pre-signed protocols and were demanding from the Armenian government
not to ratify them. There were different posters with "Do not betray"
slogan which was attached in front of the hotel with the image of the
Armenian and Turkish presidents shaking hands. The main entrance of
the hotel was blockaded with police officials.

At 4 o'clock, the meeting of Serge Sargsyan and 52 Armenian
organizations, institutions including three representatives of national
parties in Los Angeles took place. According to our information,
businessmen were the greater part of the guests. During the meeting,
the president informed about his previous meetings in Paris and New
York as well as he tried to convince the guests that there is nothing
dangerous about the protocols. Nevertheless, the greater part of the
guests, politely, though told the president that his words do not
coincide with the reality. After the meetings, the member of the ARF
Central Committee of the Western U.S Yovan Tashjeyan held a speech
in front of the protesters and demanded from the Armenian government
to stop the process of ratification of the protocols.
