JUST NOT TO BE IN ARMENIA

Once it became clear that Serge Sargsyan's pan-Armenian tour did not
work and the Diaspora cannot be convinced to forget its claims against
Turkey, the Armenian TV channels switched to plan "B". Now, Armenians
are trying to be convinced that the Diaspora has no right to decide
such questions. "Let them come, live with us under a blockade, then,
maybe they will want relations with Turkey", - said ordinary Yerevan
residents, after watching TV. This idea, which a few days ago, before
Serge Sargsyan's tour would be considered seditious and anti-national
Sunday was heard from some journalists or political figures. No doubt
in the coming days it will grow and more and more people of Armenia
will indignantly say that those living in well-fed Americas Armenians
have no right to decide for Armenia. And by that time Serge Sargsyan
will return to Armenia and will find its inhabitants set against the
Diaspora. Youth organizations will chant 'To Diaspora - what is its,
to Armenia - what is Armenian".

The tour really failed. This is evidenced by the protests, which
even the official channels cannot ignore. What did Serge Sargsyan
think leaving for his world tour? Either he was not given relevant
information about upcoming protests, or he agreed with the police
of the countries, where he was going, that the protests will not
have a dangerous character, or he did not care - only on these days,
until October 10, not to stay in Armenia, not to answer questions of
its residents. Before leaving, he told Armenia the most important -
it is the maximum he could snatch from Turkey, no one else is going
to snatch more. We have to be content with what we have.
